Glasgow’s legendary Sub Club takes its world-renowned dancefloor outdoors once again as Southside Weekender celebrates five years in Queen’s Park Arena.

For more than three decades, Sub Club has stood at the heart of UK club culture. While many venues have come and gone, the Jamaica Street institution has remained a benchmark for quality electronic music, earning a global reputation through impeccable programming, exceptional sound and a fiercely loyal community.

That same ethos returns to Queen’s Park Arena as Southside Weekender celebrates its fifth edition, transforming one of Glasgow’s most picturesque outdoor spaces into a two-day celebration of house and electronic music. What began as an outdoor extension of the Sub Club experience has quickly established itself as one of Scotland’s standout summer dance events, offering an intimate atmosphere where the music always comes first.

This year’s line-up reflects exactly why Sub Club continues to command such respect. House music pioneer Kerri Chandler joins Detroit’s Floorplan, Berlin favourite Cinthie, New Zealand duo Chaos In The CBD and long-time Subculture resident Eclair Fifi, alongside a carefully curated selection of artists across both days. It’s a programme built for dancers rather than algorithms, with each name perfectly suited to the club’s musical philosophy.

One of Southside Weekender’s biggest strengths is its scale. Rather than chasing festival-sized crowds, the event retains an intimate feel where Sub Club’s famous attention to sound can truly shine. Combined with bars, street food and the natural surroundings of Queen’s Park, it offers a very different experience from the city’s larger outdoor festivals while never compromising on musical quality.

And when the music finishes in the park, the weekend is far from over. Official afterparties return home to Sub Club itself, where the energy continues into the early hours. Saturday night sees Subculture residents Domenic Cappello and Eclair Fifi take control, while Sunday closes with Harri and Cinthie for what promises to be a fitting finale inside one of electronic music’s most revered club spaces.

Five editions in, Southside Weekender has become far more than an outdoor spin-off. It is now a fixture of Glasgow’s summer calendar and another reminder that Sub Club’s influence extends well beyond the walls of Jamaica Street. In an era where dance music events often chase spectacle, Southside Weekender continues to focus on the things that matter most: world-class DJs, incredible sound and a dancefloor full of people there for the music.
