JKriv marks ten years since his first Razor-N-Tape edits release with four expertly crafted reworks that blend disco, deep house and irresistible dancefloor energy.
Ten years after his first edits outing on Razor-N-Tape, label co-founder JKriv returns to familiar territory with “Edits Vol. 2”, another reminder of why he remains one of the most respected names in the modern edits scene.
Opening track “I Feel Amor” wastes little time making an impression. Reworking a much-loved disco classic, JKriv injects fresh energy through driving drums, swirling synths and an infectious Spanish vocal that feels tailor-made for peak-time dancefloors. It’s bold, uplifting and impossible not to move to.
“Love Dub” heads in a deeper direction, stripping away the obvious hooks in favour of groove, weight and atmosphere. Built around a warm bassline, understated synth touches and carefully placed vocal snippets, it’s a classy slice of deep house that rewards repeat listens.
Flip the record over and “Cuando Bailo” delivers perhaps the EP’s biggest surprise. Taking inspiration from an unlikely source that is Right Said Fred, JKriv transforms it into a playful but highly effective club cut that balances nostalgia with contemporary dancefloor appeal.
Closing track “Dance Sexy” rounds things off beautifully. A hypnotic groove, infectious bassline and subtle funk influences create a late-night mood that demonstrates JKriv’s knack for finding the sweet spot between disco, house and underground club music.
Rather than relying on simple nostalgia, every edit here feels purposeful. The originals are respected while being reshaped with today’s dancefloor firmly in mind, making “Edits Vol. 2” another essential addition to Razor-N-Tape’s ever-impressive catalogue.
