The DMC World DJ Championships will return to its spiritual home this autumn as Camden hosts the 41st edition of the world’s most celebrated turntablism competition, preceded by a free launch party in the heart of London’s iconic market district.
Few events have had a greater influence on DJ culture than the DMC World DJ Championships. Since launching in London in 1985, the competition has become the ultimate proving ground for turntablists, helping transform countless unknown DJs into internationally recognised champions while continually raising the bar for technical skill and creativity behind the decks.
Ahead of November’s championships, DMC will host a free official launch party at the Amphitheatre in Camden Market’s Stables on Sunday 16th August, running from 3pm until 7pm. Open to everyone with no ticket or registration required, the afternoon promises a celebration of hip hop, funk, soul, disco and world-class turntablism.
Former DMC World Champion Cutmaster Swift will headline the performances alongside UK DJ favourite DJ Pogo, with proceedings hosted by broadcaster and DJ MysDiggi. Visitors can also expect exclusive DMC merchandise, vinyl, slipmats and giveaways throughout the afternoon.
The launch marks the beginning of the countdown to DMC41, which takes place between 12th and 14th November 2026. After travelling to cities across the globe over the past four decades, the championships return to the place where the competition first began, with venues across Camden once again becoming the centre of the international turntablism community.
Throughout its history, the DMC stage has introduced some of the most influential names in DJ culture. Champions including Cash Money, DJ Qbert, Craze, Roc Raida, A-Trak, Kentaro, DJ Fly, C2C and the UK’s Scratch Perverts all used the competition as a springboard to global recognition, cementing DMC’s reputation as the benchmark for technical excellence.
More than simply a competition, the DMC World DJ Championships continues to celebrate the craft of DJing at its highest level, where precision, originality and musical knowledge remain at the heart of every performance.
With a free summer launch event welcoming seasoned turntablists and curious newcomers alike, followed by three days of elite competition in November, DMC41 promises to be another important chapter in one of dance music’s most enduring institutions.
