Steve Bug returns to Nu Groove with Let’s Work, a slick and understated four-tracker that once again proves why the German producer remains one of house and techno’s most respected long-term operators.

A true pioneer of the deeper end of electronic music, Steve Bug has always thrived in the spaces between house, minimal and tech-house, favouring groove, tension and atmosphere over cheap dancefloor theatrics. Let’s Work continues that tradition perfectly, delivering four tracks that feel refined, confident and deeply club focused.

The title track opens the EP with a bouncing, metropolitan groove that immediately locks into motion. ‘Let’s Work’ carries a cool late-night city energy through rolling drums, subtle vocal touches and warm low-end pressure. It’s one of those effortlessly functional house records that doesn’t need to shout to command a dancefloor.

‘Mr Wonders’ follows with a deeper and more hypnotic mood, showcasing Steve Bug’s long-established mastery of rhythm and pacing. The groove slowly unfolds through layered percussion and tightly controlled tension, allowing the track to breathe naturally while maintaining a constant sense of movement.

‘Not The First Time’ continues down a similarly heads-down path, leaning into stripped-back house aesthetics with precision drum programming and immersive looping arrangements. There’s a restraint running throughout the EP that works hugely in its favour; every element feels deliberate and carefully placed.

Closing the release is ‘Whispers In The Dark’, a collaboration with Los Angeles artist Juliet Mendoza. Her magnetic spoken word delivery floats across Steve Bug’s brooding electronic backdrop beautifully, injecting the EP with a slightly darker and more emotional edge. The result feels cinematic, intimate and deeply late-night.

Overall, Let’s Work is another classy outing from Steve Bug. Deeply groove-led, subtly hypnotic and packed with understated dancefloor sophistication, this is house music crafted by somebody who truly understands the long game of club culture.

The ‘Let’s Work’ EP is out on Nu Groove from 22nd May 2026. Pre order here.
