Frank Virgilio returns with another deeply groove-led outing on Hollywood Records, blending disco warmth, soulful house textures and Balearic elegance across a classy four-track EP that feels tailor made for intimate dancefloors and late-night selectors.

Fresh from recent appearances on Legofunk and Scruniversal, Virgilio continues to carve out his own lane rooted in timeless groove and musicality rather than trend-chasing club formulas. There’s a distinctly cosmopolitan feel running through Is This The Spirit Of The Party? / DJ’s Talks, with touches of Latin soul, beatdown house, disco and old-school dancefloor energy all naturally intertwining.

The title track, ‘Is This The Spirit Of The Party?’, opens proceedings beautifully with warm sunset moods, breezy Latin flavours and seductive grooves that instantly pull you into the EP’s laid-back atmosphere. Smooth percussion, soft chords and subtle musical flourishes give the track a refined elegance that feels equally suited to beach bars, terrace sessions or deeper club moments.

‘That’s The Groove!’ shifts the focus slightly towards a more hypnotic and bubbly dancefloor sound, joining together elements of beatdown, disco and classic ‘80s club music. Rolling bass lines, infectious loops and loose rhythmic energy make this one particularly difficult to sit still to.

The flip side is dedicated to reinterpretations of Vivien Reed’s cult dancefloor cut ‘DJ’s Talk’, with both Frank Virgilio and L.D.F. offering their own unique takes on the track. Rather than simply modernising the original, both versions respectfully rework its soulful DNA into something deeper and more spacious for contemporary dancefloors.

Virgilio’s version leans into drifting melodies, warm chords and groovy bass pressure, while L.D.F.’s interpretation pushes slightly deeper and more hypnotic with head-nodding house rhythms and subtle vocal touches floating throughout. Both retain that timeless underground feel without ever sounding overly polished or forced.

Overall, this is another sophisticated and musically rich release from Frank Virgilio, full of warmth, groove and understated dancefloor class. A beautifully curated EP for lovers of soulful disco-infused house music and late-night Balearic moods.
