French deep house specialists Boogie Vice and N You Up link with Chicago legend Robert Owens for a chunky yet soulful, late-night house meditation on Fossils.
French duo Boogie Vice and N You Up continue their run of quality underground releases with Blessing, a refined slice of deep house elevated by the unmistakable voice of Robert Owens. Known for their work on Get Physical, Rekids and Definitive Recordings, the pair lean into a warm, stripped-back groove that gives Owens ample space to deliver one of his most heartfelt performances in recent memory.
The original version is all about patience and restraint. A gently rolling bassline anchors the track while soft keys, subtle pads and crisp percussion build a hypnotic flow. Owens’ vocal is the emotional core, carrying a message of gratitude and reflection that feels both intimate and universal. It is the kind of record that works just as well in a late-night club setting as it does during an early morning wind-down, radiating sincerity without ever drifting into nostalgia.
Nenor’s remix takes things deeper into the basement. The groove becomes more tactile and raw, with organic textures, muted chords and a hazy intensity that slowly creeps in over time. While the vocal remains central, it is framed in a more heads-down context, perfect for sweatier dancefloors where mood and momentum matter more than immediacy.
Blessing is a classy, timeless release that speaks directly to house music purists. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, just deep grooves, soulful vocals and a clear understanding of what makes house music endure. Another strong entry for Fossils and a reminder of Robert Owens’ enduring power on the dancefloor.
