Burgeoning Manchester-based talent Fletch has primed and weaponised this new EP ‘Flexin’ for a December release on Music For Freaks.

Since his first ‘Edit Series’ release back in 2021, it was clear Fletch has something special. His understanding of ear worm grooves and infectious licks have already caught the attention of the likes of the Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos. His recent remix of Mason Collective (listen here) has amassed over 30,000 plays on Soundcloud and this new EP on Justin Harris’ Music For Freaks see’s the Manc producer tip his cap to the forefathers of House music.

“Going back to my underground roots for this EP, inspired by the early Music For Freaks Catalogue, I had a lot of fun exploring a different side to my production making these tracks. Music For Freaks has been a hugely influential label for me growing up and learning to make music, I’m honoured to be part of the family” FLETCH

The EP opens with ‘Flexin’ which is a driven, minimal tech sort of groove with metallic clangs, well placed drum hits, low-slung bass whirls and a cool spoken ghetto vocal. ‘Half-Life’ is more minimal grooves, this time powered by bulbous bass tones, sharp, icy percussion and maddening vocal chops that all combine to give you a dazzling, head down groove. ‘Voices’ rounds off the EP is a perfect form with jerky non com-formative drum lines, sine-like gnarls and an abundance of pure crazy sounds that fit in perfectly with the Music For Freaks vibe. We look forward to see where Fletch goes next.

The ‘Flexin’ EP is out on Music For Freaks from December 8th, 2023. Pre order here.
