House gangster and old school don DJ Sneak landed on Frappe recently with the four-track ‘Chicago House’ EP.
The back end of 2023 see’s a slew of remixes from DJ Sneak and that is something we should all be celebrating. The sometimes controversial, honest-speaking Puerto Rican has met his doubters head on with the release of ‘Chicago House’ on Frappé. Real name Carlos Sosa, Dj Sneak has been a prominent figure in the US House scene since the early 90’s. One third of the S-Men team with Roger Sanchez and Junior Sanchez, a remixer of early Daft Punk, and one of the revered second wave of Chicago House greats, Dj Sneak has proved and done it all!
This new EP opens with ‘Chicago House Music’, a looping Disco style groove with spoken female vocal, and low-slung bass lines. ‘I Need You’ is a deeper , rhythmic affair that adds a classic vocal into the mix whilst keeping them classic Sneak chords. ‘When You Dance’ is a jerky, looping groove whilst ‘A Little Acid’ is a 303-laden homage is true Sneak style.
