Italian producer Luca Guerrieri draws on First Choice’s disco heritage for a high-energy house workout packed with infectious strings, punchy drums and dancefloor appeal.

Italian DJ and producer Luca Guerrieri has enjoyed a productive run of releases throughout 2026, with tracks including “Disco Connection”, “Chicago”, “Don’t Try It” and “Funshine” further establishing his fondness for the more energetic end of house music. Having spent three decades behind the decks and in the studio, the Tuscany-based artist continues that momentum with “Do Your Thing”, arriving on his own DVS Records imprint.

The new single draws its inspiration from First Choice’s disco classic “The Player”, reconstructing elements of the original into a contemporary disco house production that retains much of the character and exuberance of its source material. It’s a familiar approach within house music, where the relationship between disco and the dancefloor has long provided producers with an almost endless supply of musical inspiration.

Built around a pumping four-to-the-floor groove, “Do Your Thing” immediately establishes its intentions through an infectious string hook lifted from the original recording, accompanied by a familiar female vocal ad-lib that gives the track an instant sense of recognition. Guerrieri makes effective use of those elements, allowing the strings to provide the musical identity while the driving rhythm section keeps everything firmly focused on the dancefloor.

There’s plenty of attention paid to the arrangement too, particularly in the way Guerrieri builds and releases tension throughout the track. Strong snare-driven builds gradually increase the pressure, supported by carefully worked rises that give the production a sense of scale without losing its underlying disco character.

Those builds eventually give way to brief, well-placed drum fills before the track launches back into its full groove, with energetic disco stabs and rolling percussion pushing the intensity forward. It’s this interplay between the familiar sampled elements and the more contemporary production techniques that gives “Do Your Thing” much of its appeal, combining the musical warmth of the original with the punch and dynamics expected from a modern club record.

Importantly, Guerrieri doesn’t allow the production to become overly complicated. The central string hook remains the main attraction, while the vocal snippets, rhythmic accents and breakdowns are arranged to complement the groove rather than distract from it. The result is a record that understands the value of a memorable musical phrase and knows exactly when to bring it back into focus.

With its uplifting disco influences, infectious hooks and energetic arrangement, “Do Your Thing” feels particularly suited to those moments when a DJ wants to inject some additional energy into a house set without moving too far away from the music’s soulful foundations.

Guerrieri has built a considerable catalogue around his ability to bridge classic dance music influences with contemporary production, and this latest release continues that approach with a generous helping of disco exuberance. For DJs who appreciate a strong hook, a well-constructed breakdown and a rhythm section capable of doing the heavy lifting, “Do Your Thing” should find a comfortable place in the record box.
