Underground house veteran Andrew Macari makes his Moom Sound debut with “Partie Times”, accompanied by remixes from Josh Gregg and Houston.
Andrew Macari‘s relationship with underground house stretches back considerably further than most. Emerging through Nottingham’s club, sound-system and free-party culture before moving into production during the mid-90s, the British producer has spent close to four decades immersed in the music.
His early work as one half of Flow was followed by Toka Project, whose “When House Goes Deep” tour took Macari across 32 North American cities. Since then, his music has appeared through projects including Deep South Playaz, Guided Methods, Paka Project and Greenbay Jackers, alongside releases under his own name.
That catalogue has taken him to labels including Viva Recordings, Large Music, Nordic Trax and Shaboom, while Macari has maintained an equally prolific presence behind the scenes through his own Greenhouse Recordings, Tastie Music, Jack Locker, Filter Flow and, more recently, Guava Recordings.
Now he adds Moom Sound to that considerable history with “Partie Times”.
Built around the qualities that have long underpinned Macari’s productions, “Partie Times” keeps things firmly rooted in underground house. Soul, funk and rhythm provide the foundations, with the emphasis placed on groove rather than unnecessary decoration. It’s an approach that feels particularly appropriate for a producer whose career has crossed several generations of house music without losing sight of the dancefloor.
Moom also brings two contrasting remixers into the package.
Josh Gregg returns to the label following his “Luv EP” in August, reworking Macari’s original with his own club-focused approach, while Houston completes the release ahead of a forthcoming Moom Sound project of his own.
Together, the three versions make “Partie Times” as much an introduction to Macari’s next chapter as a nod to the experience behind it. Nearly forty years into his journey through house music, the fundamentals remain reassuringly simple: soul, funk, rhythm and a groove built for a dancefloor.
