Louie Vega, Yvonne Turner and Coflo pay tribute to one of dance music’s greatest voices with a beautifully judged remix package that honours Loleatta Holloway’s timeless performance while introducing it to a new generation.

Few voices have left a mark on dance music quite like Loleatta Holloway. Revered as the “Queen of the Night”, her unmistakable blend of power, soul and raw emotion has echoed through disco, garage and house music for decades. “Can’t Let You Go”, one of the final recordings she completed before her passing in 2011, is a reminder of exactly why her legacy continues to resonate.

Leading the package is Coflo’s outstanding Dub Remix, a deep and spiritual interpretation that lets Loleatta’s voice breathe against warm percussion, rolling grooves and subtle layers of atmosphere. Rather than overwhelming the original, Coflo builds patiently around one of Holloway’s unforgettable improvised vocal passages, creating a hypnotic journey that’s already finding favour with tastemakers including Joe Claussell and Ron Trent.

Louie Vega and original writer and producer Yvonne Turner take a different approach with their Hit Bass Mix. Rich live instrumentation, uplifting harmonies and a driving New York house rhythm section provide the perfect backdrop for Loleatta’s commanding vocal performance. Featuring Axel Tosca on keyboards, Gene Perez on bass and Kenny Dope behind the drums, the production feels organic, soulful and effortlessly timeless. Background vocals from Tawatha Agee, Cindy Mizelle and Yvonne Turner add further warmth, complementing rather than competing with Holloway’s remarkable delivery.

Instrumental and short edit versions complete a package that offers DJs plenty of flexibility without losing sight of what makes this release so special. Every mix serves the song first.

More than a remix package, this feels like a celebration of an artist whose influence continues to shape dance music. Louie Vega, Yvonne Turner and Coflo understand that Loleatta Holloway’s voice doesn’t need reinventing, only the right setting to remind us why it remains one of the most iconic in the history of house and disco music.
