A sunshine-soaked double-header that blends disco, Latin rhythms and soulful house into two irresistible dancefloor workouts.

Philadelphia producer LILDAVE215 continues to carve out his own groove with a sound deeply rooted in funk, soul and disco, and his latest outing for Sweet Breeze Sound is another reminder that feel-good music never goes out of fashion. Across two beautifully crafted cuts, he delivers warmth, musicality and enough infectious rhythm to soundtrack everything from daytime terrace sessions to late-night disco dancefloors.

Leading the release, “Music Takes Me” wastes little time drawing listeners in. Loose, slinky drums shuffle beneath dusty cymbals and an effortlessly funky bassline, while infectious guitar licks add movement throughout. Sharp-eared disco fans will immediately notice the unmistakable nod to Musique’s Patrick Adams classic “Keep On Jumpin'”. Whether sampled, replayed or simply used as inspiration, the familiar vocal refrain is cleverly woven into the arrangement, adding an extra layer of nostalgia without ever overshadowing the production itself. The result is a classy slice of disco house that feels fresh while paying genuine respect to one of the genre’s defining moments.

Flip the record over and “Carnaval Del Tiempo” heads somewhere even warmer. Rich Latin percussion, vibrant saxophone flourishes and powerful vocal performances combine to create a celebration of rhythm that’s impossible to ignore. Bigger drums, carnival energy and sun-drenched instrumentation make this the sort of record that instantly transports you to an outdoor dancefloor with blue skies overhead and smiling faces all around.

What makes this release particularly enjoyable is its honesty. Rather than trying to reinvent disco, LILDAVE215 simply embraces everything that made the genre great in the first place, groove, musicianship and pure joy. Sweet Breeze Sound continues to establish itself as a label worth watching, and this latest 7-inch is another impressive addition to its growing catalogue.
