A sophisticated collection of deep house remixes that effortlessly balances timeless musicality with contemporary dancefloor appeal.

When Chez Damier is involved, expectations are always high. As one of deep house’s true architects, his influence continues to shape the genre decades after helping define its blueprint. Teaming up once again with Parisian producer Ben Vedren under their H2H alias, the pair build on last year’s excellent “No More” EP with another beautifully crafted release that feels every bit as refined as their reputations suggest.

The Original Mix immediately sets the tone. Rolling drums, supple bass guitar and warm Rhodes chords create an effortlessly elegant groove, while expressive horn arrangements and the soulful interplay between Paul Cut and Natalie Nova’s vocals add richness without ever overwhelming the track. Everything breathes naturally, allowing the arrangement to unfold with the confidence of producers who know that less is often more.

The Instrumental Mix strips away the vocals to reveal just how accomplished the musicianship really is. The subtle chord changes, jazzy flourishes and understated rhythm section are given room to shine, making this an equally rewarding listen for DJs searching for a deeper moment in their sets.

Flip over and the Festival Mix nudges the energy upwards without sacrificing the soul of the original. The groove feels thicker, the drums carry more authority and the dreamy textures expand into a version perfectly suited to open-air dancefloors and late evening sessions. It’s uplifting without becoming obvious, maintaining the sophisticated character that runs throughout the EP.

Our standout cut, however, is the Dub Mix. Built around a weightier low-end and hypnotic rhythmic shuffle, it pares everything back to the essentials. Fleeting vocal snippets, delicate guitar licks and spacious production create a late-night journey that rewards repeated listens. It’s deep house in its purest form, understated, immersive and effortlessly cool.

Rather than chasing current trends, “Tonight In Tunisia Remixes” embraces everything that has made Chez Damier’s productions endure for so long: groove, space, musicianship and emotion. It’s another classy outing from H2H and further proof that genuinely timeless house music never goes out of style.
