Traxsource has announced that from July 1st 2026, all music distributed through its platform will carry either a Human-Made or AI-Assisted label, giving DJs and music buyers greater transparency about how tracks have been created.

The move follows months of debate surrounding the role of artificial intelligence in music production and represents one of the most significant policy decisions yet taken by a major dance music download platform.

Working alongside AI detection specialists SH Labs and SoundPatrol, Traxsource says it will actively identify and remove fully AI-generated music from the platform while allowing music created through a human-led process using AI tools to remain available under the new AI-Assisted classification.

Traxsource co-founder Brian Tappert described the decision as another defining moment for the company, comparing it to the launch of digital music sales during the decline of the vinyl market.

“We do not believe AI is going away,” said Tappert. “Everything we’re doing is about finding a way to live with it, and making sure the value stays where it belongs, with human-created works.”

The move is likely to spark debate across the electronic music community, with opinions divided on where the line should be drawn between technological assistance and artistic creation.

What do you think? Should AI-assisted music be clearly labelled, or does it make no difference as long as the music sounds good?
