A powerful fusion of gospel soul, deep house grooves and uplifting dancefloor energy from one of the genre’s most consistent talents.
Over the last few years, Cee ElAssaad has quietly established himself as one of the most reliable producers operating in the deeper corners of house music. Whether blending Afro house rhythms, soulful melodies or spiritual influences, his productions consistently deliver both musical richness and dancefloor appeal. His latest outing for Local Talk, “Jump In”, is no exception.
Built around a driving four-to-the-floor groove, the original mix draws heavily from gospel traditions while remaining firmly rooted in house music. Thumping kicks, subtle jackin’ rhythms and powerful preaching vocals create an infectious energy from the outset. Rather than feeling overly polished, the track carries a raw authenticity that allows the emotion of the vocal samples to shine through.
As the arrangement unfolds, layers of percussion, warm chords and uplifting musical flourishes gradually build momentum. The result is a record that feels equally suited to peak-time dancefloors and moments of personal release, capturing the communal spirit that has always sat at the heart of great house music.
On remix duties, Amsterdam’s Marcel Vogel makes a welcome debut on Local Talk and delivers a superb reinterpretation. Opening with a dramatic gospel introduction, Vogel slowly guides the listener into a groove-rich blend of jazz-infused house and driving rhythm. While remaining faithful to the spirit of the original, he introduces additional musical depth through rich instrumentation, swinging percussion and a more expansive arrangement.
The contrast between the two versions works beautifully. Cee ElAssaad’s original is direct, energetic and emotionally charged, while Vogel’s remix takes a slightly more musical and exploratory route without losing sight of the dancefloor.
At its core, “Jump In” is a reminder of house music’s enduring connection to gospel, soul and collective celebration. Uplifting, heartfelt and expertly produced, it’s another strong entry in both Cee ElAssaad’s growing catalogue and Local Talk’s consistently impressive output.
