Four driving bass lines numbers from Castoldi have landed on Valde’s Daydream label, an essential purchase.

Daydream continues its steady run of refined, deep-leaning releases with the label’s twenty-third vinyl outing, this time handing full control over to Argentinian producer Castoldi for a beautifully understated four-tracker that drifts between dreamy deep house and hypnotic minimal grooves.

The label, curated by Clement Valdelievre aka Valde, has quietly carved out a strong reputation for warm, thoughtful club music over recent years, and Cloud Connection EP slots neatly into that world.

Opening cut Breathe Out immediately sets the tone with hazy textures, spacious pads and rolling grooves that feel deeply indebted to the more immersive side of early 2000s tech-house. There is a softness to the arrangement that allows the track to breathe naturally, whilst subtle synth shifts and delayed atmospherics keep everything moving forward without ever becoming overworked.

Note Control follows with a more dub-flecked direction. Aquatic textures, low-slung basslines and stripped-back percussion give the track a distinctly West Coast deep house feel, balancing warmth with enough groove to remain firmly dancefloor focused. It is subtle music, but very effective.

The EP’s centrepiece Deep Thought moves even deeper still. Castoldi’s original mix is enveloping and hypnotic, driven by languid grooves, floating textures and a patient sense of progression that rewards long listening sessions and darker dancefloors alike.

Nick Beringer then closes the release with a more driving reinterpretation of the same track. Injecting bleep-led rhythms, tougher drums and a slightly more direct tech-house energy, his remix offers a sharper contrast to the dreamier originals without disrupting the EP’s overall atmosphere.

What works particularly well across Cloud Connection EP is its restraint. Nothing here feels forced or overly polished for modern trend cycles. Instead, Castoldi leans into subtle groove work, mood and space in a way that feels confident and mature.

A quietly impressive release full of depth, atmosphere and understated dancefloor intelligence. Out now via Daydream, get it here.
