Peruvian-born, Miami-based talent Diego Barrera lands on Snatch! Records with the ‘All I Got’ EP, marking another milestone in his fast-rising global journey.
Born in Peru and now based in Miami, Diego Barrera continues to carve out a distinctive lane in the modern house landscape with his latest release on Snatch! Records. Blending elements of funk, tech house, deep house and techno, Barrera’s sound reflects a rich musical journey shaped by South American roots and international club culture.
First discovered by Sharam of Deep Dish in 2018, Barrera quickly moved from emerging talent to a name gaining traction across respected imprints such as Yoshitoshi, Glasgow Underground and Kittball. His productions have consistently drawn support from key figures within the global scene, underlining both his versatility and growing influence.
A breakthrough moment came with his Yoshitoshi release, opening doors to wider recognition, while more recent work like ‘Kofumba’ on Glasgow Underground showcased his ability to fuse groove-led rhythms with global influences, even reaching the Beatport Afro House charts. Alongside this, releases such as ‘Libertad’ have demonstrated a deeper, more personal dimension to his artistry, connecting political inspiration with club-ready energy.
Now stepping up to Snatch! Records, Barrera arrives with the All I Got EP, bringing with him over a decade of experience behind the decks and in the studio. The EP opens with the title-track, which is a killer looping groove that features the dazzling vocal of Loleatta Holloway. Funky guitars, bulbous bass lines and loose, raw organic drums. ‘Higher’ has more crossover appeal with its sweet, easy loops and radio friendly vocal. ‘Koala’ closes the EP with a touch of class that is reminiscent of early Ian Pooley tracks but then ascends into saxophone heaven with a constant vocal chatter in the background. A juxtaposed sound if we ever heard.
With a sound rooted in groove, culture and forward-thinking production, All I Got signals another confident step forward for an artist steadily building momentum on the global stage.
