Extended hours restored at the iconic Sidney Street venue as its legendary in-house brand makes a Bank Holiday comeback.
Manchester institution Sankeys has been granted a new 6AM licence, marking a major step forward in the club’s long-awaited resurgence. The news lands just weeks after the venue reopened its doors at the end of January, ushering in a fresh chapter for one of the UK’s most influential underground spaces.
The newly approved extended hours restore the late-night freedom that once defined the club during its Sankeys Soap heyday. For Manchester’s house and techno community, it signals the return of the kind of full-spectrum club journey that runs deep into the early morning.
Coinciding with the licence announcement is the return of Sankeys’ seminal in-house brand, The Redlight. The party will take place on Saturday 24th May across the Bank Holiday weekend, with Chicago legend Felix Da Housecat headlining. Long-standing Sankeys residents Krysko and Bucky complete the bill, firmly rooting the night in the club’s heritage.
Originally launched during the 2000s, The Redlight became synonymous with sweat-soaked, no-frills house and garage energy. Its comeback underlines Sankeys’ intent to reconnect with the raw DNA that built its global reputation.
The relaunched 500-capacity space maintains the stripped-back, immersive feel of the original club, enhanced by a new LED matrix installation and a strict no-VIP, no-phones dancefloor policy. Weekly Saturday events are already underway with unannounced headliners, while confirmed names across the season include Heidi, Maya Jane Coles, Solardo, Stacey Pullen, Steve Lawler, Magda, Nick Curly and Oxia.
With a 6AM licence secured and The Redlight reinstated, Sankeys is making a clear statement. The foundations that once positioned it at the centre of Manchester’s underground are firmly back in place.
The Redlight returns to Sankeys Manchester on Saturday 24th May. More information and tickets are available via the club’s sankeysofficial.com.
