Leeds label founder marks 30 years of 20/20 Vision with marathon charity set supporting children affected by war.

This Friday 20th February, Ralph Lawson will take on an extraordinary 20 hour 20 minute DJ livestream in aid of War Child UK, raising funds to support children caught in conflicts across Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan and other war-torn regions.

The marathon session begins at 2pm and will be streamed live via the 20/20 Vision YouTube channel and Ralph Lawson’s Instagram.

20 Hours. 20 Minutes. 20/20 Vision.

The unusual duration is no coincidence. The 20 hour 20 minute set is a direct nod to 20/20 Vision, the iconic Leeds based label Lawson founded three decades ago. In celebration of its 30 year legacy, the stream will feature music recorded exclusively for the label under its Full Circle banner.

For long-time followers of 20/20 Vision, this promises to be more than just a DJ set. It is a deep dive into one of the UK’s most respected independent house and techno institutions. From early underground cuts to future-facing releases, Lawson will dig exclusively into the label’s catalogue, showcasing the sound and spirit that has defined it for three decades.

The extended format also serves a clear purpose. The longer the stream runs, the greater the opportunity to raise vital donations for War Child.

Standing With Children In Conflict Zones

War Child UK works through long-term partnerships in conflict-affected and post-conflict communities to protect children from harm, deliver education and provide essential psychological support. Beyond immediate emergency aid, the charity focuses on helping families rebuild their lives long after headlines fade.

Speaking about the motivation behind the fundraiser, Lawson shared a deeply personal reflection:

“Lying awake in bed on bonfire night in the UK, listening to fireworks crack through the night air, I tried to imagine what it must feel like to be a child living through bombardment with real explosions getting closer and closer and it was impossible to truly comprehend.

We simply do not know what it feels like to live in constant fear for our lives, uncertain if we will awaken the next morning, or to be displaced from our homes and constantly afraid. I thought of my own children asleep in their warm beds and realised just how fortunate we are living in the safe suburbs of Leeds.

Alongside the urgent need for the basic necessities of life, water, food, clothing and shelter, children in conflict suffer life-changing trauma with a huge impact on their mental health.

I’ve wanted to do something to help for a long time but found it difficult to navigate through the division and polarisation of our current world. I began researching independent charitable organisations focused first and foremost on children caught up in conflict with a combined emergency aid and long-term psychological support approach and I found War Child.

War Child is striving for a world in which no child’s life is torn apart by war. They protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones.

Now is the time. Please do get involved and donate.”
