Mexican beat maker Hotmood opens his 2026 account with ‘Hot Beat’ a Kool & The Gang inspired number out this January on Discoweey.
Prolific producer Hotmood has been a staple not only in our reviews in 2025 but also in our own USB sticks for many gigs. The Mexican producer has a knack for glorious disco sample-driven house music that has landed him on labels like Tropical Disco Records, Ravanelli Disco Club, theBasment Discos, Nervous, Star Creature and many more.
With support coming from Mark Farina, Simon Dunmore, Session Victim, Claptone, Sleazy beats, Art Of Tones, Moullinex, Kraak & Smaak, Melvo Baptiste, Black Loops, Dj Moar, COEO, you can only assume, where is Hotmood’s name is, lives the good quality disco house.
‘Hot Beat’ is a groovy, soulful number with rich bass tones, cool vocal ad-libs and loose top percussion strikes. The real magic comes from the jazz funk organ melodies, underpinned by the haunting pads that sound like they’re sampled from the Kool & The Gang classic ‘Summer Madness’. The juxtaposed sound of the mellow original and this funky number works surprisingly well.
