German groove alchemists GOME make a vibrant Heist debut with a four track EP full of colour, charisma and classic house energy.
German duo GOME step onto Heist Recordings with a feel-good and finely seasoned release that captures everything fans have come to love about their sound. After breaking through with the 2023 hit ‘Tell Me’ on their own label Snackwax, the pair have built a reputation for uplifting house, clever musicianship and infectious personality. Their friendship with Dam Swindle, born from a last minute live show rescue at Wildeburg 2024, leads them to this moment. The result is an EP that celebrates the heart, humour and history of house music, with an extra spark from rising artist Michael Cignarale.
Opening cut ‘House Music’ is a straight up love letter to the 90s. Lush Kerri Chandler style chords ripple over beefy drums and a disco-tinted bassline that instantly locks you into the groove. GOME sprinkle their own sampled vocals over the top, adding a playful commentary that fits perfectly with the track’s throwback warmth. This one oozes passion for the genre and hits that sweet spot between nostalgia and modern dancefloor drive.
‘Cut The Midrange’ ramps up the tempo with a percussive, high-energy workout built for late-night peak moments. Filtered stabs, rave-flecked details and quirky vocal chops keep the momentum high without overwhelming the mix. It is a clever, tightly crafted groover that DJs will reach for when they want the room buzzing.
The EP reaches its emotional centre with ‘You’re My Baby’, featuring the falsetto charm of multi-disciplinary artist Michael Cignarale, tipped by Mixmag as one to watch. His ballroom-infused vocal lifts the track into anthem territory, while GOME bring chunky bass, classic house piano and dramatic drumrolls to give it that hands-in-the-air spark. It lands somewhere between heartfelt and explosive. Essential is the right word for it.
Closing cut ‘Keep Funkin’’ dives deeper into party mode. Scratch FX, old school rap snippets and rolling pads collide with sirens and punchy drums to form a heavy, forward-leaning club weapon. The ‘House Music’ acapella at the end is a welcome bonus for DJs looking to get creative.
With Chop Shop, GOME deliver an EP that captures their playful energy, their appreciation of house history and their growing confidence as producers. It is fun, it is musical, and it is built for dancefloors that want character and soul in equal measure. A strong and memorable debut on Heist.
