Louie Vega, Anané, Funki Cadets and Tony Touch all feature on this double sided release upcoming on Nervous Records.
Few producers carry the same legacy and forward momentum as Louie Vega. Nearly four decades deep and still shaping dancefloors with ease, Vega’s latest return to Nervous Records brings two fresh statements of intent: a bold reimagining of Indeep’s 1982 anthem Last Night A DJ Saved My Life featuring Anané and Tony Touch, alongside a radiant collaboration with Funki Cadets on In Search Of Peace Of Mind.
The first cut takes one of the most recognisable hooks in club history and filters it through Vega’s modern house sensibility. Big drums, lush keys, and that unmistakable bounce sit beneath Anané’s soulful vocals and Tony Touch’s effortless delivery, transforming a nostalgic moment into something wholly fresh. It is classic Vega: rhythmically tight, full of warmth, and built for dancefloors that crave energy with emotion.
Anané’s Dub takes things deeper, dialling back the vocal to let Vega’s instrumentation breathe. Smooth, cosmic chords glide across supple percussion, creating a late-night version perfect for the small hours.
Flip the record and you’ll find Vega connecting with Funki Cadets, a collective recently signed to his own Vega Records. On In Search Of Peace Of Mind (Shapes Mix), he builds a hypnotic groove driven by rolling basslines and flickering synths. The brass elements, from sharp stabs to airy melodies, lift the track into a jazzy, spiritual dimension without losing its club bite. The Peace Dub tightens the focus even further, locking into an unrelenting rhythm designed for those peak, heads-down moments when the groove takes full control.
Vega’s touch is unmistakable throughout. Every layer serves the groove, every element sits with purpose. It is music for the body and the spirit, a celebration of house music’s roots and its continued evolution.
