British house icon Graeme Park takes time away from the decks as he begins treatment for a health condition.
Few names in British dance music carry as much love, respect, and legacy as Graeme Park. This week, the legendary DJ shared a deeply personal update with fans, revealing that he will be stepping back from performing while he undergoes surgery on his throat and neck.
In an honest and heartfelt blog post published on his website, Graeme explained that a lump discovered earlier this year led to the discovery of a tumour, and the decision was made to remove both. Remaining characteristically calm and optimistic, he wrote:
“My consultant tells me I’m relatively young and fit and healthy which will work in my favour and that the aim is to cure me.”
Graeme’s message is filled with the same positivity and resilience that have long defined his career. Known not only for his pioneering role in shaping the sound of The Haçienda and the UK’s house music explosion, but also for his enduring warmth and connection to fans, Park’s influence extends far beyond the DJ booth.
While his recovery means he’ll miss several upcoming gigs, including appearances at Adored, Clockwork Orange, Masquerade, STREETrave, and FAC51 The Haçienda at The Warehouse Project, Graeme has already ensured that his Long Live House Radio Show will continue in his absence. As ever, his dedication to keeping the music alive remains unshakable.
Even in the face of uncertainty, Graeme’s words reflect strength and hope:
“Throughout this unexpected journey I’ve carried on as normal, remained calm and positive and plan to remain so. Hopefully I won’t be out of action for too long and I’ll see you all on a dancefloor soon.”
For generations of clubbers, DJs, and music lovers, Graeme Park is more than a legend, he’s a symbol of joy, unity, and the pure spirit of house music. All of us at Knights of the Turntable send him our love, respect, and heartfelt wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Until he’s back behind the decks where he belongs, the message is simple: Long Live House, and long live Graeme Park.
