When house music meets Rio’s warmth, something special happens. The Space Jazz EP from Beno, Bernardo Campos and Gush captures that moment perfectly, two deep and human grooves born from spontaneity rather than strategy.
This collaboration feels organic, like three producers sitting down with no agenda except to play. Bernardo Campos, a staple of Rio’s underground with years of dancefloor experience behind him, brings the pulse. Beno injects the restless energy of Brazil’s new electronic generation, full of drive and open ideas. And Gush ties it together with that unmistakable jazz touch, breezy chords and soulful textures that carry traces of Música Popular Brasileira into the club.
Opening track ‘Space Jazz’ lives up to its name. Its rhythm floats, guided by subtle percussion and hypnotic keys that breathe rather than punch. There is movement, but also patience, a groove that speaks in between the notes as much as within them. It is deep house for open skies, not dark basements.
Follow-up ‘J All Night Long’ leans warmer still, the kind of tune that takes over when the crowd is melting into the morning light. It is understated yet full of emotion, a pure reminder of why simplicity in house can be so powerful when it comes from the right hands.
Marking Apparel Music’s 58th EXTRA release, Space Jazz EP fits perfectly into the label’s reputation for thoughtful, soulful exploration. It is a small story from Rio, told with groove, heart and intuition, proof that when music comes together naturally, it can still sound entirely fresh.
