Butch embraces his disco side with a shimmering peak-time release ‘Glory Night’ out now on Running Back.

Butch makes his long-awaited return to Gerd Janson’s Running Back with Glory Night, a release that sees the Mainz-born producer lean fully into the disco influences that have increasingly coloured his sound in recent years. Where his early career was defined by techno and tech-house precision, this record is a statement of evolution, a producer unafraid to trade minimalism for vibrancy, layering nostalgia with modern dancefloor power.

The title track, Glory Night, is a masterclass in disco-inspired house arrangement. Built on a fluid late ’70s groove, it climbs steadily upwards, each layer adding intensity until it hits full lift-off. Classic drum patterns provide the backbone, but it is the cosmic synths and far-sighted textures that give it a distinctly 21st century edge. It is the kind of record that DJs can ride for a long stretch, with that euphoric rise making it a peak-time weapon. For those who want just the raw framework, the accompanying percussion tool strips it back to its essence, a gift for selectors who like to build their own moments.

The B-side shows Butch stretching further into nu-disco territory. Just Chill carries a rubbery, low-slung feel, hypnotic in its bassline and hazy in atmosphere, built for the deeper end of the night. Just Fly tips its hat to space disco, swelling with synth flourishes and an expansive, galactic mood. Together, the tracks underline Butch’s versatility and his ability to shape disco influences into something fresh without losing club weight.

Glory Night is not just a return to Running Back, it feels like Butch reconnecting with the joyful, communal spirit that made disco the foundation for house in the first place. Equal parts nostalgic and forward-thinking, it is a release that will find its way into peak-time sets and late-night journeys alike.
