Masters At Work, Blackchild, Rocco Rodamaal, Dennis Quin, DJ Erv & more rework a stone-cold classic by Lood.

Originally crafted by Louie Vega and Mood II Swing in the mid-90s, ‘Shout-N-Out’ has long held legendary status in house music circles. Fusing an intoxicatingly deep groove with Donell Rush’s powerhouse vocal and a synth line that burned itself into club folklore, the track became an instant underground staple. Now, more than 25 years later, MAW Records serves up a fresh remix package that bridges generations, bringing together a weighty lineup of talent to reimagine the classic for modern floors.

First up are the originators themselves. Masters At Work open the collection with a swung, bass-heavy rework that oozes authority. The duo strips the original to its rhythmic core, letting the vibe simmer with percussive menace while keeping just enough of Donell Rush’s vocal to stir nostalgia. The accompanying Instrumental and Beats versions are DJ gold, providing versatility without losing the essence of the original.

Blackchild, the Neapolitan groove merchant, flips the energy with his playful take, injecting slinky basslines, fizzy synth work and just a dash of spacey flair. It’s funky, dynamic and sure to find favour in sun-drenched terrace sets as much as sweat-soaked late-night rooms.

Rocco Rodamaal delivers a darker, dubbier interpretation that leans heavily into atmospheric tension. His remix maintains a hypnotic pulse, the lead synth burrowing into your brain as a brooding bassline rolls beneath. It’s a slow-burner with deep dancefloor intent.

Dennis Quin, ever the master of cross-pollinating house styles, brings a beautifully balanced version that nods to both Chicago and UK Garage. The jazzy chord flourishes and tidy percussion carry the vocal effortlessly, and the instrumental version allows selectors to get even more creative. This one feels tailor-made for warm-up sets or early morning wind-downs.

DJ Erv closes out the package by remixing the N&L version, bringing three decades of New York house knowledge into a slick, minimalistic tool. The vamping chords are subtle yet potent, submerged deep in the mix but driving a pressure cooker energy that’s impossible to ignore.

With this remix collection, MAW Records doesn’t just celebrate the past. It revives a classic with relevance and respect. Each remix offers a distinct perspective, yet all remain rooted in the raw soul and groove that made ‘Shout-N-Out’ so unforgettable in the first place. Essential gear for any discerning selector.

Lood feat. Donell Rush’s ‘Shout-N-Out (Remixes)’ comes on MAW Records on 18th July 2025. Pre order here.
