XL Recordings releases a new single by Four Tet titled ‘Into Dust (Still Falling)’ which features a sample of Mazzy Star’s ‘Into Dust’.

Four Tet returns with a moment of quiet magic on Into Dust (Still Falling), a long-awaited cut that has haunted sets and streams in various forms for the past few years. Built around a sample of Mazzy Star’s ethereal 1993 classic Into Dust, this release sees Kieran Hebden reframe the shoegaze melancholy of the original into something altogether otherworldly. It’s aching, fragile, and driven by a subtle, hypnotic pulse.

Hebden’s treatment is respectful, letting Hope Sandoval’s iconic vocal gently drift in and out of an ambient haze. Where the original was suspended in stillness, this new version breathes with soft motion. Four Tet layers in his signature percussive shuffle: brushed hats, warm sub-bass and delicately looped textures that provide momentum without breaking the spell. The result feels less like a remix and more like a late-night memory reassembled in the soft light of dawn.

Longtime fans will recognise this as one of the most sought-after IDs from his recent live shows, and it arrives with the reverence it deserves. Pressed to a limited edition 12″ and paired with an exclusive screen-printed tee via the XL webstore, this is a collector’s item with heart. For listeners, it’s another chapter in Hebden’s ongoing quest to find emotion in minimalism.

There’s no drop, no big-room payoff, just the ache of nostalgia suspended in time. Into Dust (Still Falling) won’t lift the dancefloor into euphoria, but it might stop it in its tracks. And sometimes, that’s the deeper kind of magic.
