Canadian artist Paolo Rocco brings you his debut release on Rinse this June with two deep, twisting house cuts.
Paolo Rocco made a name himself back in 2014 when his ‘Move Body, Move Forward’ was released on the then mighty Defected Records. A standout tune of that summer, we heard Osunlade play it out and generally all over the shop that year and instantly we felt a connection with Rocco’s lush, rich sound.
Born in Canada but from Italian decent, Paolo Rocco has gone on to become an important figure in the deeper house circles. Praised by the likes of Chris Stussy, Paolo’s laid down tracks on some real players label wise, including Hot Creations, PIV, Up The Stuss, Constant Sound, Saved Records and his own RAWMoments.
This new double sided release is the first we’ve heard from Rocco for a minute, so we were excited when it landed in our inbox. The first track is ‘Swimming In My Love’. Whirring ambience, glitched effects combine with solid, stepping bass lines and rubbery kicks to create a hypnotic deep house groove. Paolo always has a knack for just enough vocal, always emotional and refrained, it perfectly compliments the meat of the track. The next track is ‘Are You Real’. A livelier offering, Rocco stays in his lane but brightens up the groove with rich 90’s styled stabs and chopped up hip hop type Vox snippets. Again, the money is with the textures. They instantly catch your ear and add a real layer of class to the production.
The double sided release from Paolo Rocco lands on Rinse from June 27th, 2025. Pre order here.
