Crazy P’s 2008 ‘Stop Space Return’ gets a reissue on 20/20 Vision with new remixes from Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Ron Basejam, Hot Toddy and the 2009 remixes from Luke Una & Justin Crawford aka Unabombers.
As part of their 30th anniversary celebrations, 20/20 Vision return to one of the crown jewels of UK disco with a lovingly curated reissue of Crazy P’s Stop Space Return. First released in 2008, the track has long been a set-piece of the band’s exuberant live shows, a cosmic slice of nu-disco finesse that never fails to lift a dancefloor. Now, this new edition lands with fresh interpretations from Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, alongside a pair of heavyweight Unabombers remixes and digital exclusives from Hot Toddy and Ron Basejam.
There’s an extra layer of poignancy here, following the passing of the band’s iconic vocalist Danielle Moore in 2024. Danielle wasn’t just the voice of Crazy P, she was its soul, magnetic, joyful, and always utterly electric. While this release was never planned as a tribute, it stands as a beautiful reminder of her power as a performer and her deep connection with the fans and bandmates who adored her.
Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is a sublime choice to step into remix duties. A direct link to the heart of disco culture through her mentorship with David Mancuso and Francois K, Cosmo delivers two masterfully off-kilter versions. The Cosmodelica Remix reshapes the original into a swirling 6/8-time burner, loaded with trippy percussive textures, warped acid lines, and classic disco flourishes. It’s a bold rework that feels alive with spiritual energy, letting Dani’s vocal ride atop a wave of psychedelic groove. The accompanying dub strips it back and twists the TB-303 into ever squelchier territory, allowing the drums to jab and flicker in that signature Cosmo fashion.
On the B-side, the Luke Una & Justin Crawford aka Unabombers step up with a pair of stone-cold classics originally released in 2009. Their full vocal version pumps with proto-house energy, matching Dani’s sultry tone with sharp acid inflections and a deeply infectious bounce. The Unabombers Dub leans further into the dancefloor, a tougher, trippier affair with dubbed-out FX and relentless low-end movement. It’s warehouse heat, pure and simple.
Whether you’re tuning in for the nostalgia or approaching Stop Space Return fresh, this is a timely reminder of just how far Crazy P’s sound can travel, from Manchester bedrooms to global stages and beyond.
