Kisk, Osunlade, Tuccillo, Marcel Vogel and more pay tribute to the forward-thinking Apparel Music as they celebrate 15 years.
Apparel Music marks its 15th anniversary with B-Day 15, a compilation that captures everything the label has stood for since day one, people first, music always. No flashy marketing or calculated strategy, just a steady dedication to soulful, genre-fluid electronic music.
The release brings together a wide cast of artists from around the world, names like Osunlade, Inkswel & Erin Buku, Ghosten, Tuccillo, Marcel Vogel & LYMA, Kisk, HNQO, and more. Each track reflects the label’s signature approach, groove-led, jazz-leaning, and unafraid to blur the lines between house, techno, soul and beyond.
Osunlade sets the tone with a deep, organic opener, rhythmically grounded and emotionally rich. Inkswel & Erin Buku bring a soulful edge with a blend of broken beat and downtempo house that feels honest and warm. Ghosten’s collaboration with Francesca Touré and IZZY NU dives into darker textures, sitting somewhere between live jazz improv and late-night electronica.
Kisk delivers one of the more understated highlights, minimal yet emotive, driven by subtle keys and detailed percussion. Tuccillo, ever reliable, keeps things rolling with a tightly looped groove that’ll easily find a home in DJ sets. HNQO & Collateral Lab introduce a touch of Brazilian flair with a smooth, atmospheric cut that keeps things spacious.
The project feels like a snapshot of a global community built over time, not curated for trends but for feel. These are tracks made with care, from producers who clearly value the label’s roots in jazz-tinged house and emotional storytelling. And while the release spans continents and styles, there’s a clear thread running through it, connection, honesty, and an open approach to music.
Technically, the mastering by Lopazz, lacquers from Schnittstelle, and pressing at R.A.N.D. give the vinyl version the tactile depth fans will appreciate. Artwork by Tu adds a personal touch, not glossy or overly polished, but true to the label’s ethos.
Apparel Music B-Day 15 isn’t just a label showcase, it’s a thank-you note to everyone who’s contributed to the journey so far. No hype, no ego, just good music from people who care.
