OPOLOPO and Dimitri From Paris lead the charge for the new Spring Revisited project, which is breathing fresh life into classic disco and funk tracks from the ’70s.

Spring Records was an American record label based in New York, and throughout the ’70s, it released many seminal classics. Spring Revisited is revisiting the label’s extensive catalogue by commissioning remixes from some of house music’s most respected underground producers.

One of Spring Records’ most successful artists was Grammy nominated Millie Jackson, and the new Spring Revisited project is launched by new versions of her hit track, “We Got to Hit It Off.”

“We Got to Hit It Off” has a powerful vocal performance and funky bassline, which combined with its sweeping strings, made it a disco classic.

Dimitri From Paris’ version is true to the original, but the French maestro beefs up the sound to bring it in line with modern music production standards. He does this without losing any of the original’s integrity, and also provides a Dub Mix introducing trumpets and some synth parts. Both of his versions are disco-focused, and perfect for the dance floor.

Sweden’s OPOLOPO takes a different route with his remixes, as both of his versions are in the house music realm, adding a new synthesiser bassline. His deeper mix also adds some synth pads for another vibe on the package.

Talking about his involvement in the Spring Revisited project, OPOLOPO said: “It was an absolute honour and a tremendous treat to remix a legendary R&B icon like Millie Jackson. “We Got to Hit It Off” is a standout example of her powerful vocals and ability to bring both passion and playfulness to her music. In my main mix, I tried to be respectful of the original, staying with the disco vibes while injecting a bit of funk and boogie. On the deeper mix, I aimed for a later time slot on the dance floor, when things are a bit more stripped down, sweaty and raw.”

Both artists have delivered incredible reinterpretations of a true classic, and you can buy the release HERE.
