Deep house originators Chez Damier and Ralph Lawson revisit a timeless partnership with a refined, history-rich EP on 20/20 Vision.

There’s a certain weight that comes with a release like this, and not just the 180g pressing. Moments In Time is steeped in heritage, reconnecting two key figures in Deep House with material that bridges decades of dancefloor evolution.

At the centre is ‘A Dedication To Jos (Wulf Lost Tape Edit)’, a track that already carries legendary status. Originally born out of a single studio session in Nottingham, its DNA is pure early 90s experimentation. This newly uncovered version feels less like a rework and more like a time capsule cracked open. The groove is deep and hypnotic, anchored by that signature low-end pressure, while the haunting, staccato vocal phrases drift in and out with an almost spiritual presence. Subtle acid flickers and analogue textures give it that raw, machine-soul feel that defined an era, yet it still sounds completely at home in today’s deeper sets.

On the flip, ‘Thank You (Ralph Lawson Dub)’ leans into a more stripped, heads-down aesthetic. There’s a patience to the arrangement, allowing the groove to breathe while gently layering chords and textures. It’s easy to see why the original found a home in iconic rooms like New York’s Sound Factory. This dub version keeps things understated but emotionally resonant, perfect for those late-night transitions where the energy dips into something more introspective.

‘The Moment’ rounds things off with a beautifully remastered touch. There’s a warmth and clarity here that enhances its original character, bringing forward the depth of the pads and the subtle rhythmic details. It feels meditative, almost weightless at times, offering a contrast to the more groove-led cuts while still firmly rooted in that classic deep house blueprint.

What makes Moments In Time stand out is its authenticity. This isn’t nostalgia for the sake of it. It’s a continuation of a sound and ethos that artists like Chez Damier and Ralph Lawson helped shape from the ground up. The connection to early scenes, from San Francisco’s Wicked parties to the UK’s DIY rave movement, is felt in every bar.

For DJs and collectors alike, this is more than just a reissue or archival drop. It’s a reminder of how powerful simplicity, groove and soul can be when they’re done right.

A deep, timeless EP that honours its roots while still speaking fluently to today’s dancefloors. Get it here.
