Global Underground icons return to the City Series with a long awaited Dublin chapter, album exclusive music and a collector’s edition moment in the making.
After a 25 year journey that helped define the culture of DJ mix albums, Sharam and Dubfire aka Deep Dish are finally completing their Global Underground trilogy with #GU49 Dublin, landing this May 2026. For long time fans of the series, this is not just another release. It is a full circle moment.
Back in 2000, #GU21 Moscow set a new benchmark for depth, pacing and atmosphere. Five years later, #GU25 Torontocemented Deep Dish as masters of long form storytelling, balancing underground pressure with emotional release. Now, decades on, Dublin becomes the setting for the final chapter.
According to those who have heard it, #GU49 Dublin is a masterclass in control and restraint. This is Deep Dish operating with the confidence of artists who understand exactly who they are and what the Global Underground format represents. It is not about trends. It is about timeless club music, expertly sequenced, with every transition serving a purpose.
True to GU City Series tradition, this is also a release designed for collectors. These albums have always been about more than the music alone and #GU49 Dublin is no exception. Alongside the standard download, CD and vinyl editions, a very special limited edition collector’s version has already been teased, with more details expected soon. If history is anything to go by, this will be one of those releases that sells out fast and becomes near impossible to track down later.
Adding extra weight to the project is an album exclusive Deep Dish remix of Moderat’s “Eating Hooks”, included on the compilation and set for single release on 1st May. It is a smart choice. Moderat’s original is already a modern electronic classic and the idea of Deep Dish reworking it exclusively for Global Underground feels perfectly aligned with the legacy of the series.
The Dublin connection is being celebrated properly too. A #GU49 Dublin launch party at Index Dublin on Friday 30th January has already sold out, giving a lucky crowd the chance to experience Deep Dish in full flow ahead of the album’s release. For a city with a deep and passionate club culture, it feels like a fitting location to host such a landmark moment.
Speaking on their return, Deep Dish described Global Underground as foundational to their journey, highlighting the series’ role in shaping DJ culture and long form musical storytelling. They see this release as both closing a circle and opening a new chapter, a sentiment that resonates strongly given how long fans have waited for this moment.
Global Underground founder Andy Horsfield echoed that feeling, calling it an honour to work with Ali and Sharam again and praising the duo for delivering another outstanding City Series album. From Moscow to Toronto and now Dublin, the consistency of vision is clear.
A full track listing is expected in February and anticipation is already building fast. If you care about DJ mix albums, club culture and the legacy of Global Underground, #GU49 Dublin feels essential. Some things in dance music history feel permanent. Deep Dish on Global Underground is one of them.
