Elliot Adamson’s ACLS project released it’s third chapter ‘Another Chemical Love Story 3’ this December, expect the unexpected.
No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness. Aristotle once said that, we don’t think he knew Elliot Adamson, but then maybe in some transdimensional journey, the two paths crossed.
Born in the small town of Houghton-le-Spring in the north east of England, Elliot’s path over the last decade or so has been a melting pot of creativity. From his love of modern art to his on off relationship with music be it as a DJ or producer, their is just no telling which side of Elliot is the one he is trying to structure on any given day. From studying music computing to fine art, creativity is at the heart of everything Adamson strives for.
“If I had to sum up my style in one word I’d probably go for decent – that says nothing but says everything at the same time.” Elliot Adamson
From his turbulent long term friendship with Patrick Topping and the TRICK outfit to the loss of his good friend Jackmaster, the road to success has not always been paved with gold and easy rides, but throughout the unpredictable journey of self-discovery, Adamson has always managed to be on point when it comes to his music productions.
In 2020 Elliot expanded on his own productions with the arrival of Another Chemical Love Story. A self-perpetuating project that gave Adamson a chance to experiment with a more lo-fi, rustic, disco-enthused sound that proved to be a winner from the off. Tracks like ‘Serotonin’, ‘Estrogen’, ’95 Bonnie & Clyde’, ‘Keep Hiding From My Heart’ are just a few of our favourites from the ACLS discography. But, it has to be ‘Do You Feel Like I Do?’ released in 2021 that is the pinnacle of ACLS sound. As Elliot once explained to us, the use of the sample is deeply personal to him, he’s even read the incessant digging found on forums like Reddit by fans all stumbling to find the source of the electric sample.
“I’ve heard people say my records sound a bit shit, badly mastered, a bit distorted, but that is just how I like my records… There’s an emotion in someone doing something in an imperfect way.” Elliot Adamson
Fast forward to December 2025 and in a typical Adamson move, he surprisingly released volume 3 of the ACLS story. Seven tracks make up the LP, ‘U Wanna Know?’ opens the proceedings with it thundering, incessant chopped up vocal tomfoolery and whirling atmospheric pads juxtaposed by squelched, harsh fx stabs. From the off, we know there is no messing about here. ‘I Get High’ leans into a more static ACLS sound, funky piano loops, soulful female chops and dust, organic drums. ‘FEEL’ is a stripped back, drum machine groove with a hint of finger drumming sampling chops. Commanding us to ‘FEEL’ it’s hard to tell if this is Adamson pleading with the listener or himself to indeed ‘feel’. ‘Come Back To Bed’ is a rework of a cool jazz sample that’s lent to a maddening ACLS beat. ‘U Don’t Know Me’ is a relaxed, 5am post party wind down whilst ‘HOPE’ took us on a bit of a 90’s Daft Punk journey. Bastard techno beats with licks of machine soul. Rounding off the LP is ‘YMML Arrivals’. This dizzying, distorted, bending of samples draped over crazed, unquantized drum patterns signs off a record that see’s Adamson showing that he still is searching and discovering new ways to show that he simply does what he wants, and we love it.
