Soul Quest co-founder Slxm Sol opens 2026 with a soulful, groove-led EP that blends deep house warmth with broken beat finesse.

Soul Quest Records starts the year in confident form with Simple Love EP, the second solo release from Slxm Sol and a clear reflection of the label’s musical identity. Rooted in deep and soulful house while drawing heavily from London’s broken beat lineage, the EP balances emotional depth with functional groove.

The title track ‘Simple Love’ anchors the release with an uplifting deep house groove and a strong vocal pairing from Laville and BB James. Laville’s expressive delivery and BB James’ warm neo-soul touch work in natural harmony, giving the track genuine feeling without drifting into excess. It is a vocal house cut built on mood, melody and movement.

On the flip, ‘Waiting 4 You’ leans into a moody, jazz-tinged broken beat sound, driven by swung rhythms and late-night atmosphere. ‘Smiles’ pushes further into bruk territory, with fluid drums, jazzy chords and subtle sampling creating a deeper, more exploratory groove.

Kai Alcé’s NDATL Trumpet Dub of ‘Simple Love’ rounds out the EP with trademark elegance. His restrained, trumpet-led rework adds a timeless, jazz-infused layer that complements the original while expanding its dancefloor reach.

Simple Love EP is a focused and well-balanced release that reinforces Slxm Sol’s growing profile and Soul Quest Records’ commitment to soulful, forward-thinking dance music.

Release Date is set for Traxsource on 16/1/26 and general release 30/1/26.
