Scottish duo 6th Borough Project return to Delusions Of Grandeur with four cuts of gritty, late-night house rooted in disco heritage and warehouse energy.

Delusions Of Grandeur welcomes back 6th Borough Project, a duo whose sound remains firmly anchored in dusty MPC jams, low-slung house grooves and the kind of disco refractions built for dark rooms and long sessions. Made up of Craig Smith and Graeme Clark, also known as The Revenge, the pair once again deliver a release that feels both deeply informed and resolutely functional.

The Deal EP distils everything that has made 6th Borough Project such a reliable presence in underground house. Chunky drums, hypnotic groove science and a smoky, nocturnal atmosphere run through all four tracks, each one carefully sculpted for DJs who value feel and flow over obvious hooks.

The title track, ‘The Deal’, sets the tone with a stripped-back rolling groove driven by crunchy, disco-leaning drums and a strong sense of forward momentum. A hooky sax stab drifts in and out of the mix, teasing just enough melody to keep the groove alive without breaking its tension. It is a proper late-night tool with attitude, designed to lock dancers into the rhythm rather than overwhelm them.

‘The Hertz’ pushes things into more driving territory. Percussive from the opening bars, it rides a classic disco-informed groove reinforced by punchy synth stabs and swirling, dub-soaked chords. A carefully placed vocal snippet adds just the right amount of character, turning the track into a confident dancefloor shaker that balances toughness with soul.

On the flip, ‘Let Me Know’ strips everything back to the essentials. A bold square-wave bassline, clipped disco drums and rasping open hats create a raw, kinetic framework, while chopped vocal fragments flicker like neon through the mix. Dubby, twisted and unrefined, this is peak-time material for DJs who like their house music dirty and direct.

Closing track ‘For Life’ shifts the mood without losing focus. Built around a single-note bass pulse and syncopated stabs, it works as a warm-up groover or a subtle reset during a long set. The tension builds gradually, drawing dancers closer rather than pushing them forward. Deep, restrained and effortless in its execution.

The Deal EP is another strong statement from 6th Borough Project, reaffirming their ability to tap into house music’s disco-rooted past while keeping their sound firmly grounded in the present. Tough, soulful and perfectly suited to late-night floors, it is a natural fit for the Delusions Of Grandeur catalogue.
