Dutch groove masters Fouk bring their soulful touch to Freerange Records with the ‘Get It Done’ EP.
Dutch duo Fouk have long mastered the art of balance: groove-led yet melodic, classic yet modern, deep yet undeniably funky. After years of delivering standout EPs for Dam Swindle’s Heist Recordings and steering their own Outplayimprint, Daniel Leseman and Hans Peeman now touch down on Freerange Records for the first time, and the result is everything you would expect from two producers so deeply tuned into the heartbeat of the house underground.
The title track ‘Get It Done’ sets the tone with that unmistakable Fouk swing, a loose-limbed garage-house groove powered by a chunky, rubbery bassline and crisp percussion. Jaunty piano stabs and disco strings inject instant warmth, while hazy vocal snippets and lush chords weave together in classic Fouk fashion. It is a track built for the dancefloor, but with enough musicality to make you stop and smile mid-groove.
Flip to ‘Floating’, and the duo lean into something more emotive. Sweeping strings and gentle keys glide over a restrained rhythm section, offering one of Fouk’s most elegant moments to date. There is a cinematic touch to this one; it feels like sunrise after a long, soulful night.
Rounding out the EP is ‘Neon Flight’, presented in two shades. The Club Mix is bright and full of motion, a slow-burn builder that rides a fluid, evolving groove, while the First Light Mix opens the arrangement into a deeper, more musical space. The latter’s glowing pads and melodic flourishes capture the heart of what makes Fouk’s sound endure, a perfect fusion of analog warmth and dancefloor energy.
With Get It Done, Fouk find a natural home on Freerange, delivering an EP that bridges the soulful, disco-infused side of their sound with the label’s deep, emotive house aesthetic. It is refined, uplifting, and groove-rich, another reminder that Fouk continue to push the boundaries of modern house music while keeping its roots intact.
