Luke Una has announced today his return this November to Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM.
The Manchester DJ, selector, and scene mainstay has announced his long-awaited return to Worldwide FM, joining the station’s monthly lineup with a brand-new live show broadcasting direct from Mancunia. The first episode airs Wednesday 12 November at 14:00 GMT, with Luke hosting every second Wednesday of the month.
“Comrades, it’s been some journey the last five years and when I got the call from Gilles Peterson to come back to Worldwide FM to start a regular show again I genuinely couldn’t have been happier,” Luke shared in his announcement. “I absolutely love doing live radio and I’ve missed it incredibly.”
For anyone who has followed Luke’s journey, this return feels like a full circle moment. A long-time pillar of the UK underground, Luke Una’s story stretches back to the late 80s Sheffield scene before he became one half of The Unabombers with Justin Crawford. Together they ignited Manchester’s legendary Electric Chair, an anything-goes party that helped shape the city’s future house, soul, and disco sound.
In more recent years, Luke has taken his musical philosophy global through his É Soul Cultura compilations on Mr Bongo, lovingly assembled records that blur the lines between deep house, jazz, Brazilian grooves, cosmic soul and machine funk. His curatorial voice bridges scenes and eras, always guided by feeling and connection rather than trend.
Worldwide FM was the perfect home for that sensibility. During his first run on the station, Luke’s marathon six-hour sets became cult favourites, moving fluidly between spiritual jazz, deep electronics and ecstatic club energy. They weren’t just radio shows, they were portals into his crate-digging mind, unfiltered and deeply human.
Now, after a five-year break, Luke is back to remind us why live radio still matters in 2025. In a world of algorithmic playlists and short-form scrolls, he is a DJ who brings community and soul to the table, always chasing that late-night feeling where time dissolves and the music takes over.
Expect the return of that trademark É Soul Cultura blend: outer-space jazz, basement house, future funk, offbeat edits, and everything in between. Broadcasting live from Manchester, this new chapter promises to capture the city’s raw heartbeat while reaching a global audience once again through worldwidefm.net.
Welcome back, Luke. We’ve missed you on the dial.
