Citizens of Vice revisit overlooked catalogue gems, handing them to a trusted crew of remixers who deliver Balearic sunshine, nu-disco sparkle and deeper Italo-electro explorations built for today’s dancefloors.

Citizens of Vice have carved out a reputation as one of the UK’s most reliable outposts for nu-disco, Balearica and leftfield house grooves, with a catalogue that stretches from sunlit terrace jams to deeper late-night cuts. Their ongoing Label Love series is a reminder of just how rich and versatile that archive is, dusting off tracks that may have slipped under the radar and handing them to trusted remixers for a second life. The focus is not just nostalgia either, it is about reimagining and reframing these records in a way that keeps the Citizens of Vice spirit alive on today’s dancefloors.

Secret Soul Society open proceedings with a stunning neo-Balearic take on Bonnie & Klein’s Bourbon Street. It is radiant and uplifting, all sun-kissed textures and gentle grooves that carry the warmth of a late afternoon on the terrace. MAKS’ North gets pulled into murkier yet equally inviting waters via Mass Density Human Sunrise, who inject rolling breakbeats, acid-tinged undertones, and a hazy dreamlike atmosphere that blurs club energy with headphone introspection.

The midsection of the release belongs firmly to nu-disco lovers. Gus Paterson’s kaleidoscopic reimagining of Andy Buchan’s Piano Hands is a shimmering, Italo-disco-indebted trip, brimming with colour and sparkle. Buchan himself steps up with a sweeping, string-heavy rework of Lanowa’s Feels Like Love, leaning into the organic side of nu-disco with a touch of cinematic drama.

Closing the collection, Bal 5000 transforms Paterson’s Montelbano into a deep, hypnotic electro shuffle. With its Italo leanings and underground grit, it provides a darker counterpoint to the sun-drenched opener, rounding the EP off with balance and variety.

This is a perfectly curated package that captures the ethos of Citizens of Vice: unearthing underplayed tracks, reframing them through imaginative remix work, and presenting a selection that is as diverse as it is danceable. Label Love Vol. 2feels both nostalgic and forward-facing, and is one of those releases that rewards repeated listens as much as it does late-night spins.
