Australian duo Close Counters make a sparkling debut on Glitterbox with a great twist on Marvin Gaye’s  ‘I Want You’.

The track began as an edit of Marvin Gaye’s classic, made purely for fun, but quickly evolved into something much bigger. After two years of playing it live at festivals and venues from Glastonbury to Ronnie Scott’s, and receiving the seal of approval from Glitterbox’s own Melvo Baptiste, I Want You is now ready for its official release.

At its core, the record is driven by a high tempo house rhythm, where punchy percussion locks in tightly with a bold and addictive piano groove. The brass arrangements bring a vibrant, almost celebratory flair, pushing the track into a space that feels as much like a live performance as it does a club weapon. The vocals soar over the top, carrying the sense of euphoria that has made Close Counters such a dynamic force in both the festival and club circuits.

The result is a track that is both nostalgic and forward-facing, referencing classic house and soul while presenting them through a modern lens. I Want You feels tailor-made for the Glitterbox dancefloor, embodying the label’s ethos of glamour, groove and pure dance energy.

This is Close Counters at their most infectious, delivering a record that not only rounds out the summer of 2025 but promises to live on as a staple in DJ sets for years to come.

‘I Want You’ by Close Counters is out on Friday 29th August 2025 via Glitterbox Recordings. Pre order here.
