Sub Club hero Domenic Cappello lands on Cyphon Recordings this June with the four-track ‘Galactic Praise’ EP.

Few names carry the weight and legacy that Domenic Cappello does in UK club culture. As one-half of the iconic Harri & Domenic duo and a 30-year resident at Glasgow’s Sub Club, he’s a name etched into the bricks of one of the world’s most revered dancefloors. With Galactic Praise, Cappello steps out on Cyphon Recordings to deliver a four-track EP that merges his deep-rooted love for Detroit Techno with the hard-earned instinct of a seasoned selector who’s lived a lifetime behind the decks.

Opener Dat Thing doesn’t hang around. It’s a heads-down, stripped-back jam that channels the raw drive of Motor City grooves through a UK lens. The bassline throbs with intent, but there’s emotion tucked beneath the tough exterior. A touch of melancholy in the synth work adds depth without ever softening the club impact. It’s an early hours weapon for dancers who want to feel something in the dark.

Niamh’s Song changes pace, sliding into more emotive territory. Cappello shows his class here, letting complex harmonic threads unravel slowly over a steady pulse. The track feels otherworldly yet grounded, the kind of tune that could slip perfectly into a sunrise set or deepen the atmosphere mid-session. It’s a testament to his ability to balance function and feeling.

Flip the wax and Galactic Praise greets you with a warm embrace of 909s, acidic curls, and weighty pads. It’s a love letter to the roots of techno. Raw and honest, but polished in its execution. This is where Cappello’s years at the Sub Club shine through. The pacing, the restraint, the focus on the sound system’s response. It’s all here, forged in the heat of countless nights behind the booth.

Closing the EP, Neon Skyline takes a cinematic turn. Think late-night cityscapes and blurred streetlights, with arpeggios dancing over a bed of driving low-end and crisp percussion. There’s a real sense of movement and mood here, rounding off the EP with a reflective energy that lingers long after the final kick.

“This EP is a tribute to the roots of techno that have inspired me since my formative years. My experiences at the Sub Club have been crucial in shaping my sound and approach to my own productions, inspiring me to create something that captures the energy and emotion of that packed dance floor and incredible sound system. I can’t wait to share it with everyone!”  Domenic Cappello

Galactic Praise isn’t just a studio project. It’s the sound of a life lived through music, distilled into four tracks that are as functional as they are heartfelt. Cappello’s tribute to the techno that shaped him is more than just nostalgia. It’s a masterclass in progression, homage, and dancefloor storytelling.

Essential stuff for fans of classic Detroit textures, modern sound design, and DJs who know the power of subtlety. Buy the EP here.
