UK hot prospect Melle Brown has readied a lovely track in ‘Spirit’, out on Norman Cook’s Southern Fried Records this week.

A lover of all things deep and soulful, London-based Melle Brown first came to our attention back in 2022 when she released the Annie Mac vocal-led ‘‘Feel About You’ which we reviewed all them months ago. The ‘One To Watch’ DJ/radio host has already supported the likes of Kerri Chandler, Patrick Topping, DJ Minx and Ewan McVicar as well as playing at prestigious venues like Pikes Hotel, Glastonbury (Glitterbox), Manchester’s Warehouse Project, Field Day and Fabric.

This new track out on Southern Fried named ‘Spirit’ is built around an infectious rhythm section that feels effortlessly light on its feet, ‘Spirit’ moves with purpose. There’s a deftness to the percussion, shuffling hi-hats and syncopated kicks that flirt with deep house swing but stay grounded in a clean, contemporary mixdown. Over this, a chord progression unravels via hazy piano stabs, echoing the emotive fluidity of early 2000s neo-soul and future-jazz house. There’s plenty of energy but it’s refined, the later break around three minutes in, is a real pleasure to listen too.

Buy ‘Spirit’ here via Traxsource, official release date is from 9/05/25.
