LA-based outfit Florecer drop their debut single ‘Hidden Thoughts’ on Is It Balearic with Hitchhiker, Das Complex and Ken Fan on the remixes.
Surfers Allie Schulz and Alex Pasternak have been experimenting with their ethereal sound over the last couple of years. Based out of LA, the pair have captured the Pacific Ocean blues juxtaposed with machine soul to create a Balearic, downtempo sound that has captivated us. Previously their unsigned track ‘Breathy Drops’ was the only thing we had to go off but now it’s time for the duo to land on veteran Balearic aficionados Is It Balearic.
‘Hidden Thoughts’ is a shimmering, meditative sound that is rich, invoking and full of joy, pure sun-powered joy. The vocal is a pure joy. Think angelic, think early Cafe Del Mar albums, and you’ll be on the right path. And on that note, the remixes. Something for everyone here. Hitchiker’s remix is a more upbeat, late-night sound. Das Complex’s remix is like a Vangelis sound at the opening before slamming into a hefty dance beat with Acid undertones. Cafe Del Mar resident Ken Fan steals the show for us with his easy, Balearic sound. Acoustic guitars, deft beats and low slung bass tones all combine to give us that goosebumps and even the touch of reverb on Allie’s vocal takes in too another level.
