Australian talent Loods is next up on Mall Grab’s vinyl-only label Steel City Dance Discs with SCDD006, a four-track banger out this February.
Probably one of the hottest sounds of 2016-2017, lo-fi house has proved to the world it isn’t just a fad. Led by a new wave of talent like Mall Grab, Ross From Friends, Dj Boring and Dj Seinfeld, their nonchalant approach to their ‘image’ has proven a breath of fresh air to many and this next elusive character named Loods in another hot talent hailing from the Australian shores that just lets his music do the talking.
Signed up to long-time friend Mall Grab’s vinyl-only label Steel City Dance Discs which is a sub-label of Bristolian friends Shall Not Fade, Elliot Struck aka Loods has presented us with a quartet of galloping house tracks that just make you want to dance, simple.
The EP opens with ‘Around’ a piano-led 4/4 that fuses dusty chords with toy piano lines and cut up vocals. The shuffling swing encapsulates the groove and certainly will have heads nodding and feet shuffling.
‘What Is It?’ is a tougher beat led by a spluttering kick drum, tight percussion strikes and repetitive vox samples this one comes to life when the dreamy, evolving synth begins to enter the fray leaving you with a delicious taste of summer in your mouth.
‘Nobody’ is a comfortable groove that fits perfectly within its rubbery drum lines, hazy synth melodies and layers of shuffling percussion. Another sublime, riding track that’s hypnotically perfect.
Rounding up the EP is ‘Nevermind’. This filtered, disco-esque groove is a true dance floor weapon with its repetitive hooks, chopped up vocals and bright synth stabs that all combine to give us nothing but a fine slab of house goodness.
