The legendary Kerri Chandler gets remixed this February by Detroit Swindle, Peggy Gou, Jimpster and Josh Butler released through his own Madhouse Records.
Kerri Chandler set up Madhouse Records as a joint venture with Mel Medalie of Champion Records over 25 years ago. Since then it has become a haven for quality house music and throughout the years Kerri has returned back to the label and produced some classics. Now it’s time to let some of them anthems get a new lease of life through some of todays biggest underground artists.
First up is Heist Recordings bosses Detroit Swindle and their take on the 2002 Matrix track ‘Get Out’. Expect jazzy grooves laden with bubbling bass lines, funky guitars and a catchy spoken vocal that speaks of todays trails and tribulations.
Next is one of our all time favourites ‘I Got That Feelin’ by Dreamer G. Josh Butler lays down his tough house beats perfectly modernising this classic by turning it into a slick roller that delves deep whilst still keeping the jazzy organs and raw vocal.
1993’s ‘I Need You’ by Kamar gets touched by one of the hottest names in house music right now, Peggy Gou. This well-thought out remix takes on acid stylings with entwined synth melodies that dance around powerful bass tones and crisp, slick percussion.
Rounding off the EP is a trip back to 1999 and Kerri’s track ‘Powder’ that was co.produced by Jerome Sydenham. The always quality Jimpster this time remixes the track giving it crunching 4/4 drum sequences whilst keeping the original elements such as the wonderful string arrangement Sydenham’s productions are famed for. The vocals are chopped up and warped to fit this new take of an absolute belter.
