Greek-born producer DEAS lands on Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings this February with the dark, brooding techno EP entitled ‘Mentality’.
Now living in Poland, DEAS has been on the lips of many techno aficionado for quite some time now. With releases on Pan-Pot’s Second State and Kevin Sanderson’s KMS Records it’s no surprise this young man is heading to the top of the techno tree and with his productions already remixed by such artists as Pig & Dan, Harvey McKay, and Martin Eyerer and him being offered to remix the likes of Carl Cox and Inner City, we look forward to seeing where his journey takes him.
The EP opens with title-track ‘Mentality’ which is a rolling groove with plenty of kinetic energy built up by savage bass tones, glistening lead synths and spacious fx that all combine to create a treat of a peak time techno roller.
‘Monotheism’ leads with pulsating bass lines, ethereal synth leads and a powerful, distorted kick drum. With plenty of layered textures playing the gentle against the solid, this is a definite dance floor winner that will offer something for everyone.
Next is ‘Paranoia’. As guessed by the title, this one is a hectic, tense techno roller that offers moments of bleak, dystopian breakdowns that introduce airy horns, futuristic glitches and arpeggiated synth lines that carry a manic atmosphere.
Closing the EP is ‘Kamikaze’. This unnerving groove is furiously painted by manic synth stabs, solid rolling drums and weird vocal speech. No messing about, this one just aims to devastate dance floors especially with its abrupt ending.
The ‘Mentality’ EP will land on OFF Recordings from Friday 16 February 2018.
