Pressed For Time boss Goshawk delivers his sophomore release for the label this November by the way of the stunning ‘Double House & Triple Garage’ EP.
Goshawk is the alias of Matt Hunt who also records and performs as one half of Rhythm Plate alongside Ant Plate. The duo also run the 2013 founded label Pressed For Time that has released tracks from the likes of I Gemin, YSE, Tatsu and Hunt’s Goshawk moniker. Following on from his four-track EP ‘The Hunt’ that was released on the label back in 2015, we now have the pleasure of the ‘Double House & Triple Garage’ EP this November.
The EP opens with ‘Down In Brooklyn’ a flavour-some house groove led by rich synth melodies, shuffling percussion and really nice ghetto vocals. Guaranteed heady moment when the rich Rhodes chords begin to stir things up.
‘Both Sides Buttered’ is a cool, swinging groove that again features nice vocal samples with understated drum sequences that are flavoured with rhythmic finger snaps and playful synth melodies. This late-night groove will keep things burning till the end.
’88 Keys’ is a full on soulful floor groove led by diva-like vocals, glitchy fx samples, deep, yearning Rhodes riffs and a cool midnight sax type of riff. Chunkier than the rest this a pure moment of indulgence for those who like their house soulful and sweet.
Rounding off this great EP is ‘ I Live For The Love You Give’. Low-slung basslines pump away over stripped back drum sequences that are peppered with fiery percussive licks. The soulful, melancholic vocal is ear catching from the off but the magic happens when the keys come in and create a magical vibe.
Overall this is a very impressive EP from Goshawk, who to be fair never disappoints!
