Jacky – Blast EP (Red Lunar Records)

Rising star Jacky returns to his own label Red Lunar Records this October with a couple of heaters that make up the ‘Blast’ EP.

It’s been another phenomenal year for the bearded northerner Jacky with his ‘Jacky & Friends’ party and solo gigs seeing him doing the rounds throughout the UK, Croatia and Ibiza this summer landing at destinations like Zoo Project, Abode, Defected at Eden, Defected in Croatia, Forbidden Forrest and of course his debut at The Warehouse Project.

Jacky’s production side has been as impressive with remixes landing on Basement Jaxx’s Atlantic Jaxx label and Red Lunar as well as original tracks on Lost Records and Kaluki Musik.

But possibly the biggest achievement for wor Jacky was getting engaged to the love of his life Eleanor back in July, a massive congratulations from us all at Knights of the Turntable!

The happy couple

Anyway we digress. The ‘Blast’ EP opens with the title-track which is a club focused 4/4 with plenty of spunk. The excitable rhythm comes from a combination of snappy drum hits, pulsating bass lines and bright synth melodies that are flavoured by well worked vocal chops. Peak time goodness.

On the flip is ‘Your Love’. This one delves a little deeper into Jacky’s arsenal, gifting us with bubbling bass lines, swinging top percussion and again his trademark drum groove. The breakdowns are big and snare-filled and when they drop it signals the entrance of intergalactic synth shots that electrify the air.

Jacky’s ‘Blast’ EP will land on Red Lunar Records from October 6th, 2017.
