Parisian up comer Julenn debuts on Clara Da Costa’s ever-impressive Jack’s House label this July with the three-track ‘Trail’ EP.
Influenced by the greats Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Franckie Knuckles and Derrick Carter, French producer/Dj Julenn is set to make his mark this July with his debut EP ‘Trail’. Although this may be the Parisian’s first release, he’s been quietly moving within the underground French scene over the last couple of years, even appearing at the famed Rex Club. After being picked up by Ibizan label Jack’s House, 2017 seems to be a year Julenn may look back at with plenty of fondness.
Favoured by the KOTT team for its no-nonsense approach, Jack’s House is the well-respected label from the mind of Ibiza-based underground hero Clara Da Costa. With releases from the likes of Alex Arnout, Two Diggers and Los Pastores, Jack’s House is a reliable source of house music that is steeped in integrity, passion and creativity.
The EP opens with title-track ‘Trail‘ which is a deep, loose groove that features raw synth stabs, shuffling percussive hits and solid kick patterns. As the stabs evolve and brighten, the hypnotic charm of the track really captivates and will no doubt move floors.
‘Aux Fraises‘ is next with its stripped back drum sequences and tense high strings. Delicate synth melodies flavour this bubbling groove that again have that encapsulating sound that will cause you to get lost in the tense depth of the cut.
Rounding off the EP is ‘Life & Soul‘, another deep groove that this time adds a little more weight with stabbing bass tones, rolling snares, solid kicks and solemn chords.
Overall this is fine entry for Julenn and yet another feather in the cap of Jack’s House and it’s leader Clara Da Costa who constantly impresses with her search for deserving yet unknown talent.
The ‘Trail’ Ep will be released on digit format sometime mid-July via Jack’s House. Listen to the previews in full here.
