Marcel Vogel joins forces with Karizma this March for ‘The Deadpool’ EP that lands on Vogel’s own Lumberjacks in Hell label, expect solid gospel-influenced house music.
Amsterdam-based Marcel Vogel and his disco edit-based label Lumberjacks in Hell is a most impressive outfit. Since 2010 they’ve steadily released a stream of quality tracks from the likes of Spain’s Rayko, Chicago’s Jamie 3:26, Amsterdam’s Mr Mendel and Italy’s Giovanni Damico. Focusing on the Disco, Funk, Soul, Jazz nuances, this is a label for those who really understand the roots of this beautiful thing called house music.
This new EP opens with Chris Clayton aka Karizma’s ‘Work It Out’. Driven by a perfectly chopped up vocal sample that brings plenty of gospel power, this meaty 4/4 cut is full of superb drum lines, church organ lines and classic house piano lines. What follows is nothing short of a pure dancefloor weapon for crowds that want to let loose.
Next Marcel unleashes ‘I Got Jesus’. This loose 4/4 again keeps the gospel vibe alight through cool honkytonk piano lines, hailing organ melodies and some fine church vocal loops.
Karizma steps up to close the EP with his ‘Stomp Dub’ of ‘I Got Jesus’ Cutting up the vocals into quick fire stabs, this one delves a little deeper with spoken vocals, additional piano and organ lines that combine with the steady 4/4 sequences to really work a nice groove.
Overall another quality selection of cuts from L.I.H and a couple of really inspired, experienced artists.
